From cow to tank – green hydrogen from biogas

As part of Hydrogen Week, we visited the Lefkeshof family farm in Krefeld-Hüls, which is run by the fifth generation of the Schleupen family.

In a pilot project in cooperation with BtX energy GmbH, pioneering energy solutions in the field of green hydrogen production are being developed here for the first time in Germany. A biogas and reformer plant with a hydrogen refuelling station is used to produce green hydrogen from slurry and manure.

We ourselves have been active in the field of fuel cells and hydrogen applications since 2014, working with research and industry partners to develop innovative components for fuel cells based on our own coating technology. We have a need for hydrogen for test purposes and would like to obtain the required quantities from there in future in order to be demonstrably green in test operation as well. This would also enable us to work together more closely locally and boost the hydrogen ramp-up here on site. We hope that this first visit will result in good neighbourly cooperation!
