On 26.08.2021, Dr. Rolf Mützenich, Chairman of the SPD parliamentary group and member of the German Bundestag, visited Laufenberg GmbH. Having traveled from Berlin in the morning, the discussion took place at our premises together with Jan Dieren (SPD Bundestag candidate, constituency 114), Stella Rütten and Martin Reyer (both deputy chairpersons of the SPD Krefeld) as well as Stephanie and Jörg Soding.
After a joint tour of Plant 2 and Plant 8, we had an interesting discussion on various economic policy issues.
The role that the energy transition plays for the company was discussed. Production at Laufenberg is energy-intensive, with gas and electricity being used above all. We drew attention to the fact that planning and supply security are very important to us.
The function of small and medium-sized enterprises for our society was also a topic during the visit. Jan Dieren: “We need companies with their resources – production facilities, capital and more. Entrepreneurs who take their responsibility for society, but also for their employees, are particularly important. Small and medium-sized enterprises in particular play an important role in this. This is because these companies in particular often focus on long-term development in the region and are not just looking for the highest short-term profit for their shareholders.”
We were delighted with the visit and the constructive discussion. All those present showed great interest in the company and our ideas for the future.
