Sustainability measures

Sustainability measures: Laufenberg pursues a holistic sustainability strategy. We strive to maintain a sensible balance between economic development, ecological responsibility and social equality and to promote and implement all three dimensions of sustainability in and with our company.

Social responsibility

For us, healthy and motivated employees are the key to sustainable economic success. We strive for maximum occupational safety. Appropriate tools and methods ensure continuous improvement in health and safety. We also pay attention to occupational safety, working conditions and social justice with our customers and suppliers.

Protection of our core processes

Compliance with high standards in terms of information security and data protection is essential for us. We use our security certifications to ensure our process security, including the IT systems, components and processes involved.

Hygiene concept: save resources & avoid waste

In order to reduce non-value-adding activities to a minimum, we pursue a comprehensive hygiene concept. This includes direct prevention programs such as Foreign Object Damage, the 5 S method (for optimal workplace design), a Double Door System, as well as methods for pest control and bacteria measurement.

Sustainable success

In terms of modern quality management, we not only focus on our own sustainable economic success. Rather, we strive for socially responsible and environmentally friendly production. To ensure quality, we pursue a zero-defect strategy, which we view as an ongoing process.

Binding commitment to sustainable goals

The Code of Conduct is part of our corporate social responsibility. Among other things, it expresses our voluntary commitment to ecologically, economically and socially sustainable action. Be it in terms of resource-saving behavior, long-term employee retention or generally efficient corporate management to secure the future of the company.

Increasing energy efficiency

For us, practicing sustainability means continuously improving our energy-related performance, i.e. increasing energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption. Various energy efficiency programs support the energy efficiency measures in our production. We are working to continuously increase the proportion of renewable energies.

Reduction of negative environmental impacts

In line with the principles of sustainable development, environmental protection is an integral part of our corporate policy. Our environmental protection goals include improving energy and material efficiency, dispensing with environmentally harmful raw materials and production processes, reducing environmentally harmful auxiliary materials and the credo “waste avoidance before recycling”.

Sustainable & socially responsible forestry

For the future of our forests: We use certified papers that are tested according to the strictest standards.

A head start through sustainability

Find out more here about the specific measures we are implementing for climate neutrality and the steps we have already taken on our path to sustainability:

  • Environmental program and environmental audit with the aim of continuousCO2 reduction
  • No use of solvent-based silicones and paints
  • Forward-looking production in a water protection area in compliance with strict specifications that go far beyond the legal requirements
  • Ongoing active monitoring of environmentally harmful substances with the aim of substitution
  • Ongoing active reduction of hazardous waste
  • Increasing the use of FSC® -certified raw materials
  • Active scrap and waste prevention program
  • Active product development with special attention to environmental protection
  • Reprocessing of our production waste through cooperation with external providers
    • Paper
    • Slides
    • Silicone
  • Ongoing review of the use of the liner waste we generate for new non-standard applications (e.g. in the construction industry, packaging industry)
  • Forward-looking waste management with the aim of 100% separation of waste fractions
  • Active energy monitoring
  • Ongoing process optimization to increase the energy efficiency of our processes
    • Exhaust air volume monitoring to reduce the use of fossil fuels
  • Ongoing optimization of our machinery, e.g.
    • Machine drives
    • Active monitoring of our air pressure network
    • Effective steam generation
    • Monitoring the negative pressure in the dryers to increase energy efficiency
  • Use of heat exchangers for energy recovery
  • Use of renewable energies
    • Solar panels on our factory roofs to generate electrical energy from renewable energy systems to possibly cover the base load
  • Conversion of the vehicle fleet to e-mobility (forklift trucks and company vehicles)
    • Electric charging points for cars and bicycles on the company premises
    • No gas-powered forklifts in internal logistics wherever possible
  • Active product development with special attention to the use of energy and resources
