Silicone flat gasket for PEM fuel cells

Silicone flat gasket for PEM fuel cells

Our silicone flat gasket featuring a PET core was specifically designed for PEM fuel cells, developed through years of collaboration with research institutes and customers. The goal has always been to provide high-quality seals in an efficient and cost-effective manner for the expanding fuel cell market over the long term.

As a crucial component of the PEM fuel cell, the silicone flat gasket serves to seal the cells between the membrane and the bipolar plate, as well as the water cooling system in the stack construction.

Characteristics

  • Good compressibility
  • High density
  • Slightly rough surface
  • Good positioning due to rigidity (fast assembly) + dimensional stability

Our silicone flat gaskets stand out in the market due to their dimensional stability, which ensures optimal positioning during stack assembly.

Additionally, our manufacturing process results in very low surface roughness. This flat surface profile allows for a high level of gas and water tightness to be achieved in the cell with minimal contact pressure, eliminating the need for supplementary sealing.

The material can be customized to meet various thickness requirements, with commercially available options ranging from 200 to 700 µm. During production, we can achieve a low thickness tolerance of just a few micrometers.

Your requirements for the material

When producing our silicone flat seals, we meticulously follow your specifications for the material.

Our silicone seal with a PET core comes in various thicknesses and can be offered in either single-sided or double-sided coated options.

We can achieve the optimal layer thickness based on the customer’s plate design, accurate to within a few micrometers of the requested value.

Our product is available on rolls for your mass production needs, and we can also supply the material in specific formats if necessary.

The material can generally be processed using laser or water jet methods, as well as standard punching tools.

We provide DIN A4 samples of our standard coating thicknesses for testing. Additionally, we offer test production services for a fee, starting from as little as one square meter, as per agreement.

This material is also suitable for various other applications, including the electrolysis and e-bike sectors, among others.
