Laufenberg Release Liner - liner for optimized wettability

Release liner for optimized wettability Coating water based adhesives on silicone coated release liners often results in a bad wet out. Especially when applying low adhesive coat weights or low viscosity formulations, the adhesive lm shows a tendency to break up and form so called „sh eyes“. It is possible to solve this problem by using a higher amount of wetting agents. However this has a negative inuence on the adhesive properties. The adhesive becomes softer and shows signicantly lower cohesion. Furthermore wetting agents improve the absorption of moisture, which results in a lower resistance against water- storage. Also from a commercial aspect the amount of wetting agents should be as low as possible. Our new 91B release coating in comparison with standard silicone coatings gives a signicantly improved wet out when using the same amount of wetting agent. This allows the reduction of amount of wetting agents used, resulting in improved adhesive properties. In addition to that our 91B coating features lower friction, improving machine runability.
